KATIE HAMMENT
PHYSIOTHERAPIST | SPORTS REHAB & PILATES

Meet Katie
Katie Hamment is a Newcastle physiotherapist at Up N Adam Performance Training & Physiotherapy with a special interest in sports injury rehabilitation, ACL and knee rehabilitation, exercise-based physiotherapy and Pilates.
Katie's interest in rehabilitation is strongly influenced by her own sporting experience. A competitive hockey player, Katie suffered an ACL rupture in 2020 and completed her rehabilitation at Up N Adam before progressing through a structured strength and conditioning program. That experience gives her first-hand understanding of the physical and psychological challenges involved in recovering from a significant injury and returning confidently to sport.
Sports & ACL Rehabilitation
Katie has a particular interest in ACL and knee rehabilitation, sporting injuries and return-to-sport rehabilitation. She combines physiotherapy with progressive strength and conditioning, movement retraining and objective testing to help guide rehabilitation from the early stages of injury through to return to training and competition.
At Up N Adam, Katie has access to our fully equipped rehabilitation gym and VALD strength and performance testing, allowing strength, asymmetry and physical capacity to be objectively measured throughout rehabilitation rather than relying on time alone.
Pilates & Exercise Rehabilitation
Katie also has a special interest in Pilates and exercise-based rehabilitation. She uses Pilates principles and individualised exercise to improve strength, movement control, mobility and confidence for people recovering from injury or looking to return to regular activity.
Her approach can be particularly useful for people who want to progress beyond hands-on treatment and develop the strength and physical capacity required for longer-term recovery.
Sporting Experience
Katie's experience includes:
- Physiotherapist with the Newcastle Knights U21s
- Experience with the Newcastle Jets A-League Men's and Women's programs
- Physiotherapist with the Australian Country Hockey Team
- Level 1 ASCA Strength & Conditioning Coach
- Competitive hockey player
- Ongoing professional development in rehabilitation Pilates
Her combination of physiotherapy, strength and conditioning, Pilates and personal sporting experience allows Katie to take patients from injury management through rehabilitation and ultimately back to sport, exercise or everyday activity.
Who Katie Treats
You don't need to be an elite athlete to see Katie. She treats people with a broad range of musculoskeletal problems, including knee and ACL injuries, ankle injuries, hip and lower-limb problems, sporting injuries and people requiring structured exercise rehabilitation.
Whether you're returning to competitive sport, getting back to the gym or simply wanting to move and exercise with greater confidence, Katie will work with you to develop a clear and progressive rehabilitation plan.
