BASKETBALL INJURY PHYSIOTHERAPY NEWCASTLE

Recover Stronger. Return to Basketball. Own the Court.

Basketball is a fast-paced, physically demanding sport involving repeated jumping, landing, sprinting, pivoting and rapid changes of direction. These movements place significant demands on the ankles, knees, muscles and tendons, and injuries can quickly interrupt your training and competition.

At Up N Adam Performance Training & Physiotherapy in Hamilton North, Newcastle, we understand the physical demands of basketball and the importance of returning to the court with confidence.

Our physiotherapists combine detailed injury assessment, progressive rehabilitation, objective VALD strength and jump testing, and sport-specific return-to-play programs to help basketball players recover and rebuild their physical capacity.

Whether you're a junior basketballer, local club player, representative athlete or experienced competitor, we'll work with you to understand your injury and develop a rehabilitation plan suited to your playing demands and goals.

Basketball Injuries We Assess and Treat

Basketball places significant demands on the lower limbs through repeated jumping, landing, acceleration, deceleration and rapid changes of direction. Contact, falls and high training loads can also contribute to upper-limb injuries and overuse conditions.

At Up N Adam, we assess the injury, identify relevant strength and movement deficits, and develop an individualised rehabilitation plan that considers the demands of returning to basketball.

The goal isn't simply to get you back on the court — it's to rebuild the strength, jumping capacity, movement control and confidence you need to play basketball at your best.

Ankle sprains are common in basketball, particularly during landing, rebounding, stepping on another player's foot and rapid changes of direction.

We assess ligament injury, ankle mobility, calf strength, balance and landing control before progressing rehabilitation towards jumping, cutting and basketball-specific movements.

For players experiencing repeated ankle sprains, we also address the physical deficits that may contribute to ongoing instability.

Pivoting, sudden deceleration, awkward landings and contact can contribute to ACL, MCL and other knee ligament injuries, as well as meniscal injuries.

We assess knee stability, quadriceps and hamstring strength, movement control and functional performance.

Using VALD strength and ForceDecks testing where appropriate, we can objectively monitor rehabilitation progress and help inform return-to-basketball decisions alongside clinical assessment.

Repeated jumping, landing and high training loads place considerable demands on the patellar tendon, particularly in players who train and compete frequently.

We assess tendon loading tolerance, quadriceps strength, jumping capacity and training demands before developing a progressive strengthening and load-management program.

Our goal is to improve your capacity to tolerate jumping, landing and the demands of basketball.

Repeated sprinting, jumping, landing and rapid acceleration place substantial demands on the Achilles tendon and calf muscles.

We assess calf strength, tendon loading tolerance, ankle mobility and functional performance before developing a progressive rehabilitation program.

Rehabilitation may include calf strengthening, plyometric exercises, running progression and basketball-specific conditioning.

Explosive sprinting, acceleration, deceleration and lateral movement can contribute to hamstring, quadriceps and groin muscle injuries.

We assess muscle strength, injury severity, movement capacity and sport-specific loading before developing a progressive rehabilitation plan.

Our approach aims to restore strength, speed and confidence during running, cutting and defensive movements.

Contact, falls, rebounding and ball-handling can contribute to shoulder injuries, wrist sprains and finger injuries.

We assess the affected structures, strength, movement and functional limitations before developing an individualised rehabilitation plan.

Where appropriate, rehabilitation progresses towards passing, shooting, catching, rebounding and the physical demands of returning to basketball.

Experienced physiotherapists. Personalised care.

Our physiotherapists combine sports injury assessment, progressive rehabilitation, objective strength testing and an understanding of athletic performance to help basketball players recover and return to training and competition.
