CRICKET INJURY PHYSIOTHERAPY NEWCASTLE

Recover Stronger. Return to Cricket. Perform With Confidence.

Cricket demands a unique combination of speed, strength, coordination and endurance. Fast bowling, batting, fielding and repeated throwing place significant demands on the shoulders, spine and lower limbs. When injury strikes, it can interrupt your season and affect your ability to perform at your best.

At Up N Adam Performance Training & Physiotherapy in Hamilton North, Newcastle, we understand the physical demands of cricket and the importance of keeping players active, healthy and performing throughout the season.

Our physiotherapists combine detailed injury assessment, progressive rehabilitation, objective VALD strength testing and cricket-specific return-to-play programs to help players recover and rebuild their physical capacity.

Whether you're a junior fast bowler, club cricketer, representative player or weekend competitor, we'll work with you to understand your injury, manage your training demands and develop a rehabilitation plan suited to your role in the team.

As proud supporters of local Newcastle cricket, we're committed to helping players of all ages enjoy the game and achieve their sporting goals.

Cricket Injuries We Assess and Treat

Cricket places different physical demands on fast bowlers, spin bowlers, batters, wicketkeepers and fielders. Repetitive bowling, powerful throwing, sprinting and prolonged periods in the field can contribute to both acute injuries and overuse conditions.

At Up N Adam, we assess the injury, identify relevant strength and movement deficits, and develop an individualised rehabilitation plan that considers your playing role, training workload and return-to-cricket goals.

The goal isn't simply to get you back onto the field — it's to restore the strength, movement capacity and confidence you need to bowl, bat and field at your best.

Fast bowling places considerable repetitive loading demands on the lumbar spine, particularly during the delivery stride.

We assess spinal movement, strength, bowling workload and relevant physical factors contributing to symptoms. In younger fast bowlers, persistent or extension-related back pain may require medical assessment and imaging to investigate a possible lumbar bone stress injury.

Rehabilitation focuses on appropriate load management, progressive strengthening and a carefully planned return to bowling.

Repeated bowling and high-speed throwing place significant demands on the shoulder, particularly the rotator cuff and surrounding stabilising muscles.

We assess shoulder mobility, rotator cuff strength, scapular control and throwing tolerance before developing a progressive rehabilitation program.

Our goal is to restore shoulder capacity and gradually rebuild the demands of bowling, throwing and fielding.

Side strains involving the oblique abdominal muscles can occur during fast bowling and other powerful rotational movements.

We assess trunk movement, muscle function and loading tolerance before progressing rehabilitation through strengthening, rotational exercises and a gradual return to bowling.

Repeated sprinting between wickets, fielding, acceleration and sudden changes of direction can contribute to hamstring and calf injuries.

We assess muscle strength, injury severity and running capacity before developing progressive rehabilitation involving strengthening, sprinting and cricket-specific running demands.

Running, diving, landing and sudden changes of direction can contribute to ankle sprains, knee ligament injuries and other lower-limb conditions.

We assess joint stability, strength, movement control and functional performance, using VALD testing where appropriate to guide rehabilitation and return-to-cricket decisions.

Batting, bowling, catching and throwing can contribute to elbow tendon pain, wrist injuries, finger injuries and other upper-limb conditions.

We assess the affected structures, grip strength, movement and functional limitations before developing a rehabilitation plan that considers the demands of batting, bowling and fielding.

Experienced physiotherapists. Personalised care.

Our physiotherapists combine sports injury assessment, progressive rehabilitation, objective testing and an understanding of athletic performance to help cricket players recover and return to training and competition.
