HOCKEY INJURY PHYSIOTHERAPY NEWCASTLE

Recover Stronger. Return to Hockey. Play With Confidence.

Hockey is a fast, demanding sport involving repeated sprinting, rapid changes of direction, tackling and sustained periods in a low playing position. When injury strikes, it can affect your ability to train, compete and enjoy the game.

At Up N Adam Performance Training & Physiotherapy in Hamilton North, Newcastle, we understand the physical demands of field hockey and the importance of getting you back on the field safely and confidently.

Our physiotherapists combine detailed injury assessment, progressive rehabilitation, objective VALD strength testing and sport-specific return-to-play programs to help hockey players recover and rebuild performance.

Whether you're a junior player, weekend competitor, representative athlete or experienced hockey player, we'll work with you to identify the factors contributing to your injury and develop a rehabilitation plan suited to your goals.

Hockey Injuries We Assess and Treat

Hockey places significant demands on the lower limbs, trunk and upper body. Sprinting, tackling, low playing positions and rapid changes of direction can contribute to a range of acute and overuse injuries.

At Up N Adam, we assess the injury, identify relevant physical deficits and develop a rehabilitation plan that considers the demands of returning to hockey.

The goal isn't simply to get you back onto the field — it's to restore the strength, movement capacity and confidence you need to play hockey at your best.

Repeated sprinting, acceleration and sudden changes of speed place considerable demands on the hamstrings and calf muscles.

We assess muscle strength, injury severity and running capacity before developing a progressive rehabilitation program that may include strength training, sprint progression and return-to-play testing.

Twisting, tackling and rapid changes of direction can contribute to knee ligament injuries, meniscal injuries and other knee conditions.

We assess knee stability, strength, movement control and functional capacity, using objective testing where appropriate to guide rehabilitation and return-to-hockey decisions.

Ankle sprains can occur during tackles, awkward landings and sudden changes of direction.

We assess ligament injury, ankle mobility, strength and balance before progressing rehabilitation towards running, jumping, landing and hockey-specific movements.

The low playing position, repeated lunging, sprinting and rotational movements involved in hockey can place significant demands on the hip and groin.

We assess hip mobility, adductor strength, pelvic control and sport-specific loading to guide rehabilitation for groin pain, adductor strains and other hip-related injuries.

Sustained forward-flexed positions, repeated rotation and high training loads may contribute to lower back discomfort in hockey players.

We assess spinal and hip movement, strength, neurological function where indicated and the demands of hockey to develop an individualised rehabilitation plan.

Falls, tackles, collisions and repetitive stick-handling demands can contribute to shoulder, wrist and other upper-limb injuries.

We assess the affected structures, strength, movement and functional limitations before progressing rehabilitation towards stick control, tackling and return to hockey.
