RUGBY INJURY PHYSIOTHERAPY NEWCASTLE
Recover Stronger. Return to Rugby. Play With Confidence.
Rugby is a physically demanding sport involving repeated sprinting, tackling, collisions, rapid changes of direction and high-intensity efforts. Injuries can affect your ability to train, compete and enjoy the game.
At Up N Adam Performance Training & Physiotherapy in Hamilton North, Newcastle, we understand the physical demands of rugby union and rugby league, from junior and community competitions through to representative sport.
Our physiotherapists combine detailed injury assessment, progressive rehabilitation, objective VALD strength testing and sport-specific return-to-play programs to help rugby players recover and rebuild their physical capacity.
Whether you're recovering from a shoulder injury, knee ligament injury, hamstring strain or persistent pain, we'll work with you to understand your injury and develop a rehabilitation plan suited to your position, physical demands and goals.

Restore strength. Rebuild resilience. Return to the game.
Rugby Injuries We Assess and Treat
Rugby places significant demands on the muscles, joints and ligaments of the entire body. Tackling, collisions, sprinting and rapid changes of direction can contribute to both acute injuries and persistent musculoskeletal problems.
At Up N Adam, we assess the injury, identify relevant physical deficits and develop an individualised rehabilitation plan that considers the demands of returning to rugby.
The goal isn't simply to return to the field — it's to rebuild the strength, physical capacity and confidence needed to tolerate the demands of rugby.
Repeated sprinting, acceleration and high-speed running place considerable demands on the hamstrings and calf muscles.
We assess muscle strength, injury severity and running capacity before progressing rehabilitation through strengthening, running and sport-specific conditioning.
Twisting, tackling and sudden changes of direction can result in ACL, MCL and other knee ligament injuries, as well as meniscal injuries.
We assess knee stability, strength, movement control and functional performance, using objective VALD testing where appropriate to guide rehabilitation and return-to-rugby decisions.
Ankle injuries can occur during tackles, awkward landings, stepping and changes of direction.
We assess ligament injury, ankle mobility, strength and balance before progressing rehabilitation towards running, jumping, landing and rugby-specific movements.
Kicking, sprinting and changes of direction place considerable demands on the hip and groin muscles.
We assess hip mobility, adductor strength, pelvic control and sport-specific loading to guide rehabilitation for adductor strains, groin pain and other hip-related injuries.
Contact, tackling, scrummaging and repeated physical loading can contribute to neck and lower back symptoms.
We assess spinal movement, strength, neurological function where indicated and the physical demands of the player's position.
Quadriceps strains, recurrent muscle injuries and incomplete recovery can affect a player's ability to sprint, kick and compete confidently.
We assess relevant strength, running capacity and functional performance, then progressively rebuild the physical demands required for training and competition.
Experienced physiotherapists. Personalised care.
Our physiotherapists combine sports injury assessment, progressive rehabilitation, objective testing and an understanding of athletic performance to help rugby players recover and return to training and competition.
