HAMSTRING & CALF STRAINS PHYSIOTHERAPY NEWCASTLE
Recover Stronger. Run With Confidence. Return to What You Love.
A sudden pull in your hamstring or calf can stop you in your tracks. Whether it happens during a sprint, a weekend run, a sporting match or everyday activity, muscle strains can be frustrating — particularly when you're eager to get moving again.
At Up N Adam Performance Training & Physiotherapy in Hamilton North, Newcastle, we take the time to understand how your injury occurred, assess the extent of your symptoms and identify the physical demands you need to return to.
From recent muscle strains to recurring injuries and persistent weakness, our physiotherapists combine clinical assessment, progressive rehabilitation and objective strength testing to help guide your recovery.

Rebuild strength. Restore speed. Return with confidence.
Understand Your Muscle Injury. Build a Stronger Recovery.
Hamstring and calf strains occur when muscle tissue is exposed to forces that exceed its current capacity. Injuries vary in severity and may affect walking, running, sprinting, jumping and sport.
Our approach combines careful assessment, progressive strengthening and a structured return to activity based on your injury and individual goals.

Understand Your Injury
We assess how your injury occurred, the location of pain, muscle function, strength and relevant movements to help determine the likely injury and appropriate rehabilitation pathway.

Restore Movement & Comfort
Early rehabilitation focuses on appropriate loading, restoring comfortable movement and gradually rebuilding muscle function while respecting the stage of healing.

Build Strength & Performance
Progressive strengthening, running drills and functional training help prepare your muscles for the demands of running, sprinting, jumping and sport.
Your Pathway From Muscle Injury to Confident Performance
Successful muscle strain rehabilitation involves more than waiting for pain to settle. We progressively rebuild the strength, movement and physical capacity needed for your activities.
We discuss how your injury occurred, previous strains, symptoms and sporting goals before assessing muscle function, strength and relevant movement patterns.
We explain our findings and develop a rehabilitation plan based on the suspected injury, its severity and your individual activity requirements.
Your rehabilitation may include progressive resistance training, eccentric strengthening, running progressions and functional exercises appropriate to your stage of recovery.
We progressively reintroduce faster running, sprinting, jumping and sporting movements when appropriate, using clinical assessment and objective testing to guide decisions.
Feeling Better Isn't Always the Same as Being Ready.
Pain can improve before a muscle has regained the strength and capacity needed for high-speed running or sport. Progressive rehabilitation and appropriate return-to-sport testing help reduce unnecessary risk when returning to activity.

PERSONALISED MUSCLE INJURY REHABILITATION
More Than Pain Relief. Rebuild Strength You Can Measure.
Hamstring and calf rehabilitation requires more than simply stretching the injured muscle. It involves restoring strength, improving tolerance to loading and preparing the muscle for the demands of your sport or everyday activities.
At Up N Adam, we assess muscle strength, lower-limb function and the physical requirements of your activity.
Where appropriate, we use VALD technology, including NordBord, dynamometry and ForceDecks, to measure strength and functional performance, identify relevant differences and help guide rehabilitation progression.
For runners and field-sport athletes, rehabilitation may include progressive running, acceleration, high-speed running and sport-specific drills.
Our goal is to help you return with confidence, knowing you've progressively prepared your body for the activities that matter.
Hamstring & Calf Injuries We Assess and Treat
Muscle strains can differ in location, severity and rehabilitation requirements. Accurate assessment helps guide appropriate loading and return-to-activity progression.
The goal isn't simply to heal the injured muscle — it's to rebuild the strength, speed and confidence needed to perform again.
Hamstring strains commonly occur during sprinting, accelerating or overstretching movements. We assess muscle function and strength before developing a progressive rehabilitation and return-to-running program.
Calf injuries can affect walking, running and pushing off through the foot. We assess the gastrocnemius and soleus muscle complex and develop a progressive strengthening and functional rehabilitation plan.
Repeated hamstring strains can be particularly frustrating for runners and field-sport athletes. We review previous rehabilitation, strength, sprint exposure and sporting demands to help address potential contributing factors.
The soleus plays an important role in running and lower-limb loading. We assess calf strength, including bent-knee function, and progressively rebuild capacity for walking, running and sport.
Muscle injuries can interrupt distance running, sprinting and endurance training. We consider training demands, strength and running progression to help guide rehabilitation and return to running.
Returning to sport after a muscle strain requires appropriate strength, running capacity and exposure to sporting demands. We use progressive rehabilitation and objective testing where appropriate to help guide return-to-sport decisions.
Experienced Care. A Personal Approach.
Our physiotherapists combine clinical assessment, objective strength testing and progressive rehabilitation to help people recover from muscle injuries and return to everyday activities, running and sport.
