CYCLING PHYSIOLOGY & COACHING NEWCASTLE

KNOW YOUR ENGINE.
TRAIN YOUR NUMBERS.

Stop guessing your training intensity. Understand your physiology and train with zones built around you.

VO₂, lactate and threshold testing combined with individualised cycling coaching to identify your training zones, guide your training and help you perform at your best.

UNDERSTAND YOUR PHYSIOLOGY

MORE THAN A VO₂ MAX NUMBER.

VO₂ max is only one part of the picture.
Understanding where your aerobic and higher-intensity thresholds occur can be even more useful for guiding how you train.
Through physiology testing we identify the key numbers that help define your training — including VO₂ max, LT1/VT1, LT2/VT2 and your individual power & heart-rate training zones.

YOUR THRESHOLDS

KNOW WHERE EASY ENDS.
KNOW WHERE HARD BEGINS.

Your thresholds are some of the most valuable numbers we can identify for effective cycling training.

LT1 / VT1 helps identify the transition from easier aerobic riding into more moderate intensity — providing a clearer guide for Zone 2 rides, long endurance sessions and aerobic development.

LT2 / VT2 identifies your higher-intensity threshold, where maintaining power becomes increasingly demanding. This helps guide threshold intervals, sustained climbing efforts, race preparation and high-intensity training.

By identifying these thresholds, we can establish individualised power (watts) and heart-rate training zones based on your actual physiology — rather than relying on generic percentages of FTP, estimated maximum heart rate or age-based formulas.

The result? More purposeful training, better control of intensity and greater confidence that every session is targeting the adaptation you're after.

FROM TESTING TO TRAINING

YOUR NUMBERS ARE ONLY USEFUL
IF THEY CHANGE HOW YOU TRAIN.

Once we understand your physiology, we can turn your testing results into training that is specific to you.

Your individual power and heart-rate zones help guide everything from easy recovery rides and long endurance sessions to tempo work, threshold intervals and high-intensity efforts — ensuring every session has a clear purpose.

For cyclists wanting more support, physiology testing can also form the foundation of individualised cycling coaching. We build structured, periodised training around your goals, available training time and event demands, then adjust your program as your fitness and performance develop.

INDIVIDUALISED CYCLING COACHING

TESTING GIVES US THE NUMBERS.
COACHING PUTS THEM TO WORK.

A great cycling training plan is more than a collection of workouts.

Your coaching is built around your physiology, current fitness, training history, available time and the demands of the events you're preparing for — whether that's your first gran fondo, a challenging mountain ride or competitive racing.

As your fitness develops, your training evolves with you. We balance recovery rides, aerobic endurance, threshold intervals, high-intensity sessions and strength training within a structured, periodised program.

The goal isn't simply to train harder. It's to train smarter, make the most of your available time and arrive at your next cycling challenge stronger, fitter and better prepared.

YOUR PHYSIOLOGIST & CYCLING COACH

MEET LUCAS McBEATH

Lucas combines physiology testing with endurance coaching to help runners understand how their body responds to training — and, importantly, how to use that information to improve.
Rather than relying on generic training zones or one-size-fits-all programs, Lucas uses your physiology, training history, goals and event demands to guide a more individualised approach.
Whether you're preparing for your first event, chasing a PB or looking to take your endurance performance to the next level, the goal is simple:

TRAIN WITH PURPOSE.

PHYSIOLOGY TESTING • ENDURANCE COACHING • RUN • RIDE • TRIATHLON
